TRX or Jungle Gym? The TRX vs Jungle Gym Smackdown

I've written about and reviewed two of the most popular suspension training systems in town - the TRX Fitness Anywhere system and LifeLine's Jungle Gym. Now I pit them head to head in a no holds barred contest to find out which one gets permanent pride of place on my pull up bar and which one gets stuck under the kitchen sink.

TRX wins:

  • Handles. The TRX easily beats the Jungle Gym with handle quality. Nicely padded but with a solid core you can comfortably hold onto for longer.
  • Strap width. The TRX wins this one again with sturdier webbing. However, in my opinion, it's not too significant as the Jungle Gym still feels extremely stable.
  • Construction. The TRX just feels solid when set up

Jungle Gym wins:

  • Ease of set up. The Jungle Gym is easier to set up. Simply throw one end over your support bar, loop it through then give it a firm tug. The TRX requires you to loop the attachment over the bar a few times then clipping a carabiner to it.
  • Simplicity. The Jungle Gym comprises of two nylon webbing straps with handles and a loop for the bar, nice, simple and strong. The TRX has a central connection to which the handle strap is looped through. I don't think it's necessary and adds more bits that can potentially fail
  • Easier to do pull ups from.

So which one wins? In my opinion it's the TRX. The solidity is a HUGE advantage and the only niggle I have with it is central loop system which is a touch fiddly.
